peeled and cut in fairly large slices

apple cider

Calvados (apple liquor)
if you don't use increase apple cider by 1/4 cup

Instructions
Melt butter in a large non-stick frying pan.
Add shallots and sauté for about 2 minutes.
Add apples and cook until they start to get soft.
Add the remaining ingredients and cook until most of the liquid has evaporated and thickened.
